How to Enable Live Captions in Televeda

💻 On a Laptop or Desktop Computer

Chrome has a built-in feature called Live Caption that works on any video or audio playing in the browser — including your Televeda class.

  1. Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome.
  2. Select Settings.

  1. Click Accessibility in the left-hand menu (you may need to scroll down).

  1. Find Live Caption and toggle it On.

  1. Go back to your Televeda class tab and play the video — captions will appear automatically in a black bar at the bottom of your screen.

Microsoft Edge

Edge also has a built-in Live Captions feature.

  1. Click the three dots (…) in the top-right corner of Edge.
  2. Select Settings.

  1. Click Accessibility in the left-hand menu.

  1. Find Live Captions and toggle it On.
  2. Return to your Televeda class — captions will appear at the bottom of the screen.

📌 Mac users: If you do not see captions after enabling them in Edge, also check your Mac’s System Settings → Accessibility → Captions to make sure caption display settings are not hiding them.

📌 Prompt may look slightly different on Windows devices, as Edge can follow the device’s local settings, so the experience may vary a bit between Windows and Mac.

Safari (Mac only)

Safari does not support live captions. We recommend switching to Google Chrome for the best experience. You can download Chrome for free at google.com/chrome.

Firefox

Firefox does not currently support live captions. We recommend using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge instead.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

The captions aren't appearing — what do I do?

Make sure your browser's sound is not muted and that the class video is actually playing. Try refreshing the page and checking that Live Caption is still turned on in your settings.

The captions look wrong or keep disappearing.

Live captions are generated in real time by your device, so occasional errors are normal. If they cut out frequently, check your internet connection.

I don't see the Accessibility option in my settings.

Try using the search bar inside your browser or phone Settings and type "captions" or "live caption" to find it quickly.

Can I make the caption text bigger?

Yes! In Chrome on a computer, after turning on Live Captions, click the small gear icon on the caption bar to adjust text size and colours. On iPhone, go to Settings → Accessibility → Live Captions to find display options.

Will captions work in languages other than English?

Chrome supports multiple languages for Live Caption. After enabling the feature, go back to Settings → Accessibility and look for language options. iPhone and Android also support additional languages in their device accessibility settings.
